EARLY YEARS

classeOur Early Years School will be opening to pupils on 8th September 2010.

We consider the Early Years as the fundamental starting point of education. For this reason we have taken special care to integrate the norms given by the Italian Ministry of Education with the strongest aspects of the British system.

In accordance with the Italian education system, children start our Early Years School when they are 3 or will be 3 by 30th April of the following year (ie for the academic year 2010-2011 children born by the 30th April 2008 can enrol for nursery) although priority will be given to older children.
Classes will run five days per week, from Monday to Friday,
from 8.30 am until 3.00 pm.

Each class will have a class teacher and an assistant. The teacher will have Italian as her first language, the assistant will have English.
This will encourage children to speak both languages from the start so that if they come from entirely Italian families they can start fitting into the British environment in which they are growing up and if they come from mixed families the bilingual upbringing is reinforced at school as well as at home.

The main focus of the Early Years will be to let each child grow within his/her own evolutionary rhythm, with respect for the differences and the identities of each, so that they can all mature into autonomous children each with his/her own special competences.
The school aims to provide an educational environment which promotes a life rich in relationships, exchange of experiences and learning, whilst fully respecting the dignity of childhood.
Games and spontaneity of expression will be developed through role play with  specially designed artistic and scientific activities with the assistance of specialist and enthusiastic staff.
